Italian Ski Resorts and Holidays

February 17, 2017

There is plenty of time left to book a ski holiday for this season and if there are plenty of good ski deals just waiting to be snapped up.

We look at what's on offer in Northern Italy where there are several airports that give you quick access to the ski slopes.

The airports of northern Italy are your gateway to the Alps! There’s a good choice of ski resorts easily reached from Bergamo and Linate airports!

One of our best value ski deals is offered at Maniva ski resort, which is just under 1 hour from Verona airport and less than 2 hours from Milan Bergamo airport. The on piste Italian ski break in Maniva is available throughout March for only 225 euro per person with half board, ski pass and hire! The Maniva ski break is based in the modern 3* Hotel Barnardi which boasts a modern wellness area where you can relax after a fun day on the slopes! Child discounts are also available and infants up to 2 years of age stay for free! Maniva is the ideal resort for families travelling with small children, there is lots to keep the little ones entertained and if they can’t ski then they can enjoy the snow with some sledding in front of the hotel!

Other ski resorts which are 2 hours or less from Bergamo airport are:

Aprica- is just under 2 hours from Orio al Serio/Bergamo airport and has over 50km ski runs! This is a fantastic resort for beginners and intermediates blessed with good snowfall and modern facilities. Many of Aprica’s ski runs come right down into resort centre, so many of the hotels really are ski in/ski out! The Campetti ski area is the location of Aprica’s nursery slopes which are well connected to the rest of the resort by carpet lifts and chair lifts. In Aprica you can choose from a range of 3* and 4* hotels all with ski pass and as part of our Aprica ski holidays offers

Presolana – Our Presolana ski break is just 50 minutes from Milan Bergamo airport and includes 3* Hotel accommodation, ski pass, ski hire and return transfers all from only 200 euro per person with stays available from 2 – 7 nights. Your ski pass for Presolana allows you to ski the nearby resort of Monte Pora, both resorts offer provide easy blue runs for beginners, which allow first-time skiers to gain their confidence. Ski schools are available in both resorts.

Montecampione – is just 1 hour from Bergamo airport and although it is not a huge resort, there are certainly enough runs to keep most skiers happy. The nearest town to Montecampione is the spa resort of Boario Terme. Our Italian ski break in Boario offers more après ski options for those who like a bit of nightlife, as there are numerous bars and restaurants to visit. If you want to stay on piste then try our flexible Italian ski break staying at the on piste apartments at Montecampione.

Ski resorts within 3 hours of Bergamo and Linate airports:

Bormio – this is the place to go if you are an intermediate to advanced skier and enjoy good food and a choice of 3 spa centres to visit after a day on the piste! The cobbled streets of the resort centre are lined with an array of interesting shops, wine bars and there is even a Michelin starred restaurant among many other places to eat. Given its altitude, Bormio enjoys a good snow record and the place has real old time charm that will draw you back.

Santa Caterina – this picturesque resort lies just 12 kilometres up the road from Bormio in the Stelvio National park and it’s such a pretty place to stay and ski. The Hotel Nordik is a delightful hotel run by the Compagnoni family, a name synonymous with Italian Alpine skiing! The family offer you a warm welcome to their hotel which is just a few hundred meters from the Deborah Compagnoni ski run named after the Olympic skiing gold medallist. Many of the FIS World cup races take place on the slopes of Santa Caterina so you may have seen it on tv. Visit this resort once and you are sure to return! Stay at the Hotel Nordik with ActivityBreaks.com on a Santa Caterina ski break from just 299 euro pp from 5- 7 nights.
