Looking at short breaks in Europe? Why not check out Munich!

February 3, 2016

Whether Munich brings up images of the world-famous Oktoberfest it holds every year (which actually starts in September…) or Pep Guardiola’s Bayern Munich, the city has plenty offer a whole range of travellers! We’re excited to announce a new 3 night European city break to Munich including one city tour to allow you to take in all the major sights of the city. Whether you’re a fan of old-style architecture as you can see in Marienplatz (St. Mary’s Square) which dates back to 1158, or more modern designs such as the Allianz Arena where Bayern Munich play their home games, this city has a mixture of both.

The capital of Bavaria, Munich is steeped with heritage and culture. During your free time during your city break you might want to explore some of the museums. The Deutsches Museum is Germany’s largest science museum, allowing visitors to interact with a range of exhibits. Free guided tours can be joined with no reservations, and tickets are only €11EUR for an adult. Alternatively, those seeking a short break in Europe to take in some art should visit the Münchner Stadtmuseum where Erasmus Grasser’s famous Morris dancers can be seen! Admission here is also cheap at only €7EUR, but note that the museum closes on Mondays.

If you’re a beer-drinker, Munich is definitely the city break for you! Popular beer styles include a pale Helles and more traditional Dunkles. In the summer it’s best to enjoy evenings of your short break in the many beer gardens to rest up after a day of exploring the city – although prepare yourself for the Stein serving sizes! Beer prices can range from €3-€10 with the higher price being seen in the beer tents during Oktoberfest.

While Munich is walkable in the inner city, there are also a range of public transport options, including S-Bahn, U-bahn and a number of tram and city bus services. During your 3-night city break we recommend taking advantage of the group day ticket for 3 days which covers up to 5 adults. The price of this is around €28EUR for the inner district.

If you want to see the city for yourself, check out our 3-night package here. With prices from €294EUR per person, this includes 3 nights in 4* city centre hotel with breakfast, arrival Munich airport transfer, and one city tour. If you’ve seen Munich before, or fancy somewhere difference, why not take a look at our other short breaks in Europe here?
