This guided group walking holiday will take you to Croatia's inland mountain region and five national parks: Risnjak, North Velebit, Plitvice Lakes, Paklenica and Krka. You will spend between two and five hours walking each day on easy to moderate terrain, so this break is suitable for anyone from 12 years up. Groups are capped at a maximum of 16 people. Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Zvecaj
You will be met at the airport, railway station or in the harbour and taken to Zvecaj. In the evening meet on the terrace of Zeleni Kut overlooking the river for dinner and brief orientation, where you will have the chance to discuss the upcoming holiday and get to know your guides and fellow travellers.

Day 2: Walking in Risnjak National Park
The Risnjak mountain range is named after a rare animal that inhabits the woods there – the lynx. The pristine park covers an area of 63.5 km2. It includes both the Risnjak and Snježnik ranges and the source of the Kupa river. After hiking return to the hotel for dinner in the late afternoon.
Accommodation: Zvecaj hotel; Walking:3-4 h, easy/moderate, well marked paths; Drive: 1.5h-2h each way.

Day 3: Walking in North Velebit National Park
After breakfast, the group will drive to Croatia's youngest national park - North Velebit National Park.
Accommodation: Private guesthouses in Korana Village; Walking: 4 – 5 h, easy/moderate, well marked paths; Drive: 2.5 h each way.

Day 4: Walking in Plitvice Lakes National Park
Visit the most beautiful national park in Croatia - Plitvice Lakes National Park. Its exquisite series of 16 emerald green and opal blue travertine lakes, more than 90 waterfalls and numerous caves make it a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy a picnic lunch surrounded by uncontaminated nature. Panoramic boat and train rides will take you back to the entrance to the park. Later in the afternoon return to your accommodation in the village just in time to enjoy a quick swim before dinner.
Accommodation: Private guesthouses in Korana Village; Drive: 15 min each way; Walking: 4-5 h, easy, well marked paths.

Day 5: Optional trip day
On the fifth day of your holiday you can be as active or as lazy as you like. There are several walking, sightseeing or beach trips on offer (not included in the price), ask your guide for details.
Accommodation: Private guesthouses in Korana Village; Drive: max 2 hours each way.

Day 6: Paklenica National Park Walking
After saying goodbye to your village hosts continue south to Paklenica National Park, part of a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve and a popular hiking and climbing destination. Hiking is the only way to really get to know Paklenica National Park. The most popular trail is the one leading to Borisov Dom, a mountain hut popular among mountaineers. After descending all the way to the sea drive to Skradin for the evening.
Accommodation: 3* Skradinski Buk Hotel in Skradin; Walking: 4-5 h, moderate, well marked paths; Drive: 2h 1h.

Day 7: Krka River National Park Walking
The last day of the trip takes you to Krka River National Park with its fantastic karst formations and travertine waterfalls. A boat will take you to Visovac island and its Franciscan monastery. After walking, return to the hotel and enjoy early evening in the old town before the final evening dinner and a celebration of an amazing adventure.

Day 8: Departure
Depart from Skradin to the airport and flight home. If you decide to spend more time in Croatia, our guides will be happy to recommend other beautiful places to visit - especially those you won’t find in tourist guide books.

The accommodation is a friendly, family-run, 3* hotel on the bank of the Mreznica River, approximately one hour drive from Zagreb and Rijeka airports. The restaurant overlooks an old mill close to a small waterfall and serves freshly caught fish, as well as home-grown vegetables. Barbecues are also a speciality of the house. All rooms are equipped with en suite bathrooms, TV, mini bar, telephone and have Internet access.

Korana Village

Accommodation is provided by the families of Korana Village, a small romantic place hidden away in a valley by the river in Plitvice Lakes National Park. The houses are small, traditional dwellings with simple, clean and comfortable rooms in an idyllic setting. The peaceful atmosphere makes for an ideal base from which to explore the surrounding area. Please note that each house in Korana Village has 2-4 bedrooms, and that sometimes two rooms share one bathroom.

Hotel Skradinski Buk

Travellers usually stay in a three-star hotel Skradinski Buk, just a few minutes away from the dock. The rooms are air conditioned and have a mini bar, TV, telephone, free WiFi and ensuite bathroom. On the hotel terrace you can enjoy in relaxing Dalmatian atmosphere and seafood and wine specialities.
