One moment …

The 6 Nations are Upon Us!!

February 5, 2016

If you’re rugby mad or from a rugby-mad family, then this weekend will no doubt be spent either glued to the TV or, if you’re lucky enough, in a stadium as you revel in the kick-off of the 6 Nations!

We can’t wait for proceedings to get underway, with lots of questions waiting to be answered by the 6 teams. With the 3 games played this weekend, we’ll get insight into how the teams are going to play for the rest of the tournament.

Scotland need a good start against England in Murrayfield this weekend to boost morale after last year’s performance. However, to win they need to also need to make new history, as the Scots haven’t scored a home try against England since 2004. England are hoping for a fresh start after last year’s poor show, and have a new coach and a new captain to breathe life into the team. Who will take home the Calcutta cup this year?

On topic of captains, how will Ireland cope without their old Captain O’Connell? They also have to face Sunday’s match without some of their top performers as Tommy Bowe, Cain Healey and Iain Henderson are unavailable for their debut match against Wales. A scary thought for Irish fans, as Wales can boast to have literally the biggest team in World Rugby!

The Scots haven’t won the 6 Nations since 1999 and will be fighting tooth and nail for the champion title, while Ireland are battling to win their 3rd consecutive title for the first time in the tournament’s history. So we think Scotland vs Ireland will be an intense match on the last weekend of games. No doubt the match on 19/03/2016 will be an interesting on, as the Scottish side try to redeem themselves in Dublin after an embarrassing 40-10 defeat against the Irish team last year. With this being the last home game for current champions it’s not one to miss… thankfully we have a ticket packages available!

After their 62-13 defeat at the hands of New Zealand in the quarter-final of the Rugby world-cup, France have made some big changes to their line-up. Similarly Italy will be looking to pick up their game and better their performance last year, which saw them win only 1 game of 5. Their debut game will be an interesting one! You can see Italy take on England next weekend in Rome from just €188pp!

Yeah we big up the boys, but let’s not forget about the girls!! The Women’s 6 Nations also kicks off this weekend with England vs Scotland battling it out tonight. Ireland look to have a strong team this year – though maybe we’re just biased – we’ll soon find out as they play Wales Saturday afternoon and France take on Italy in the evening.

Whoever you support, wouldn’t it be fab to be one of the one million fans that will fill stadiums over the next 6 weeks; proudly watching their teams battle it out for the title?! Check out our 6 Nations packages here and you could be personally experiencing the buzz of a rugby game!!
