One moment …

Winter isn't all about skiing!

October 5, 2016

When you ask people to think of a winter holiday, most people’s mind jump automatically to ski breaks. If you’re not a fan of skiing, then I’m sure the constant chat of ski can be exasperating. But fear not – we have some travel inspiration for those who want a winter escape but don’t want to strap long, narrow material to their feet and glide down pressed, vertical slopes. Here’s our top recommendations for winter breaks without the ski.

Alpine Spa

These are available all year around, but are particularly nice for winter. You get to snuggle up warm inside, or bathe in the thermal waters, while the snow falls around you. Invigorate your body with fresh Alpine air and relaxing spa treatments! Our Alpine Spa break in Bormio is perfect for accessing the nearby Thermal Spas while staying in a hotel surrounded by breath-taking views.

New Year’s Celebrations

Seeing in the New Year is an opportunity for new beginnings and fresh starts – a new year means a blank canvas. What better way to see in the New Year than by exploring another city or culture with your loved one? Our New Year opera in Vienna package enables you to take in the magic of an operatic performance, finishing just in time to see the New Year fireworks display in Vienna city centre!

Christmas Market

What says winter more than a Christmas market? We offer Christmas market packages in Salzburg and Prague, each with truly magical settings that will really get you in the festive spirit. Fitting in with the surrounding Gothic architecture, the Christmas Market in Prague sets up in Old Town Square, meaning you won’t have far to walk back to the hotel with all the unique gifts you pick up. Our Christmas market break in Salzburg will take you on a whirlwind through the city before letting you explore the market with curtesy Christmas punch in hand!

Bernina Express

The famous Bernina Express train enables you to discover the Alps from the comfort of a panoramic train ride. From Tirano to St. Moritz, the train travels along a beautiful route that was declared a UNESCO world heritage site in 2008. It’s perfect for snuggling into the cabins of the trains and watching the snow-capped mountains and glaciers pass by outside! Explore Italy and Switzerland on the route and maybe squeeze in some shopping.

Snowmobile in Iceland

Iceland offers a great destination for winter getaways; perfect for families to take their kids to Christmas themed breaks, and great for adults who fancy a bit of adventure! Our package in Reykjavik enables you follow the Golden Circle by super jeep and snowmobile before going snorkelling in Silfra between the European and North American continents. Definitely, something different.

Chase the Sun

If the thought of the cold winter months has you running for the duvet and hot chocolate, then maybe you would prefer to chase the sun? Our packages in Madeira and Fuerteventura are available all year around and the temperatures there are pretty nice regardless of dates of travel. Madeira sees a low temperature of around 15 degrees in January, while Fuerteventura rarely drops below 18 degrees. Learn to surf, or just enjoy the surroundings, but these destinations are a good way to escape the winter for a little while.

If you like the sound of any of these packages, or even just want a bit more information on any of our destinations, then our customer services team will be happy to help on [email protected]!
