Chamonix-Mont Blanc valley
Sitting at the foot of Mont Blanc, close to the border with both Switzerland and Italy, Chamonix is synonymous with winter sports, having hosted the first ever Winter Olympics in 1924.
It is however also a popular destination for active summer holidays with a wealth of activities to choose from, including hiking, mountain biking, white water rafting, canyoning, via ferrata, rock climbing, paragliding and more. There are excursions for all levels, so you need not have previous experience to take part.
You will be staying just north of Chamonix in the pretty village of Argentière, a great base for your stay in the area - close to the action, but also peaceful enough to relax during your downtime.
Chamonix and its neighbours offer a variety of restaurants, bars and cafes. You will also find a cinema, casino, bowling alley, ice rink, a large sports centre, indoor climbing wall and numerous museums.
The QC Terme spa is also worth a visit during your stay with its panoramic heated pools and spa treatments, taking an afternoon to pamper yourself here will be one of the highlights of your trip.
