Itinerary

Day 1. Cividale del Friuli
Arrival in Cividale del Friuli; check-in at hotel; free time to visit the town, a UNESCO world heritage site and Longobard capital.

Day 2. Cividale - Collio - Gradisca D'Isonzo
AAT stage 29. Visit a winery near the Slovenian border at Mernicco for a gourmet tasting lunch and wine tasting. Private transfer to Gradisca d’Isonzo, where the Official Regional Wine Shop is located. Check-in at hotel and overnight.

Day 3. Gradisca D'Isonzo - Jamiano
AAT first part of stage 33 along Doberdò lake to Jamiano village. Check-in followed by a delicious seafood dinner at the hotel restaurant and overnight.

Day 4. Jamiano - Duino
AAT remaining part of stage 33 to reach the Adriatic sea and the village of Duino, famous for its castle and cliffs. Check-in at hotel and overnight.
approx 10 km, around 3 hours

Day 5. Duino - Rilke Weg - Cividale del Friuli
AAT beginning of stage 34 to Sistiana, walking the famous Rilke Path by the sea (2km), free time to visit the beach and Portopiccolo. Afternoon private transfer back to Cividale del Friuli. End of tour.

The Alpe Adria Trail connects the Carinthia region of Austria with western Slovenia and Italy's Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Starting from the highest mountain in Austria, the Grossglockner, it continues on through Slovenia and Italy until reaching its final destination of Muggia/Trieste on the Adriatic sea. The trail covers a total of 43 stages across a variety of terrain.

This walking tour will take you through the Collio wine region located in the the Gorizia Hills area of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia regiono in Northeastern Italy, close to the border with Slovenia. The area has been awarded DOC ('denominazione d'origine controllata') status.

The area is famous for its excellent white wines, including Friulano, Ribolla Gialla, Malvasia Istriana, Chardonnay, Pinot bianco, Pinot grigio, and Sauvignon blanc, though it does produce some very good red wine too, including Refosco and Pignolo.

You will stay in hotels along the route during your walking tour.
