Day Three: Upper Mreznica river

On the second half of the excursion, you’ll find some fun rapids and a waterfall or two before heading back to the campsite for another home cooked meal.

The Mreznica and Zrmanja rivers are hugely popular locations for watersports like kayaking and packrafting, as well as white-water rafting in the spring and autumn months.

The 63km Mreznica river passes through open stretches of countryside and impressive canyons and is famous for its many waterfalls, the highest of which is 8 metres tall (don’t worry, you will bypass that one!). The upper section has stronger rapids, while the lower section is calmer and ideal for first timers.

The Zrmanja river further south is of a similar length and has long been a destination for watersports enthusiasts. It flows through part of the Velebit National park. Here you can enjoy some impressive karst rock formations and waterfalls.

Nights 1 and 2:
Zeleni Kut hotel***, a family-run hotel in Zvecaj, next to the Mreznica River. The rooms each have their own bathroom, air conditioning, satellite TV, and telephone.

Nights 3 and 4:
Campsite in the village of Kastel Zegarski, located on the Zrmanja river. Here you will find tents, sleeping mats, toilets and an outdoor shower.

Nearest Airport:

Arrival: Zagreb (80km) - 1 hour, or Rijeka (100km) - 90 mins.

Departure: Zadar (60km) - 50 mins, or Split (120km) - 1 h 40 mins

Airport transfers from/to the above airports are included in the package, please let us know your flight details when you book.
