Explore 5 national parks: Risnjak, North Velebit, Plitvice Lakes, Paklenica and Krka; you will spend between two and five hours per day cycling or hiking on easy to moderate terrain (some areas are not open to cyclists), so this break is suitable for anyone from 12 years up. Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Zvecaj
You will be met at the airport, railway station or in the harbour and taken to Zvecaj. The group usually gets together around mid-day, which will give you enough time to choose and test the bikes on a short tour of the villages. In the evening meet on the terrace of the Zeleni Kut restaurant overlooking the river for dinner and a brief orientation, where you will have the chance to discuss the upcoming trip and get to know your guides and fellow travellers.
Accommodation: 3*** Hotel in the Mreznica River area; Meals: D; Drive: 1h from Zagreb airport, 1.5 h from Rijeka airport.

Day 2: Risnjak National Park
The Kupa River forms a natural border between Croatia and Slovenia, the tour starts from the entrance to the National Park and heads towards Razloge through little villages and forest paths. The bridge crossing the Cabranka River by Zamost is also a border crossing to Slovenia. Ride along the Slovenian bank of the green Kupa River to Brod, where you will cross back to Croatia. Here you will have time to relax and freshen up with a cold drink before returning to the hotel for dinner.
Accommodation: 3*** Hotel in Mreznica River area; Meals: B and D; Activity: Cycling, 3-4 hours around 50 km, easy/moderate; Van ride: 1-1.5h each way.

Day 3: North Velebit National Park
After breakfast, load your bikes and luggage into the minibus and drive to Croatia’s youngest national park – Northern Velebit National Park. After a short walk in Krasno village and the park area, you will cycle down to the Gacka river valley, famous for it's excellent trout fishing. A stop for lunch will be made by its source, surrounded by old wooden mills. From here, drive to Plitvice Lakes National Park and your accommodation in the village of Korana.
Accommodation: family guesthouse in Korana; Meals: B and D; Activity: Cycling, 3-5 hours/ 43 – 63 km, easy/moderate; Drive: 2 -3 h.

Day 4: Plitvice Lakes National Park
Visit Plitvice Lakes National Park on foot – walking around its 16 lakes, numerous waterfalls, and lush forests. Start the day walking along the wooden paths and bridges in and around the exquisite series of 16 emerald green and opal blue travertine lakes, 90 waterfalls and numerous caves. Enjoy a picnic lunch followed by a panoramic boat and train ride that will take you back to the start.
Accommodation: family guesthouse in Korana; Meals: B and D; Activity: Walking, 4-6 km, easy; Drive: 10 min each way.

Day 5:
Today is all about exploring the lovely Croatian countryside by bike. Cycle on quiet roads that are almost entirely free of traffic, through forests and hills and across green fields. Head towards Barac Caves, where you will stop for a guided underground tour of the cave’s fascinating limestone formations. After visiting the caves there will be enough time for sunbathing by the river Korana in the village before you a enjoy traditional Croatian dinner.

Day 6: Paklenica National Park
After saying goodbye to your village hosts continue south to Paklenica National Park, part of a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve and a popular hiking and climbing destination. Lying on the southeast slopes of the Velebit Mountains near the coast and cut by two awe-inspiring gorges, the scenery is breathtaking. There are several wonderful hikes through beech and black pine forests to choose from. The most popular is the trail leading to Borisov Dom, a mountain hut popular with mountaineers. Head back down to the sea and on to Skradin.
Accommodation: 3* Hotel Skradinski Buk; Meals: B and D; Activity: Hiking, 4 hours, easy/moderate; ; Drive: 2h, 1h.

Day 7: Krka River National Park
The last day of the tour takes you to Krka River National Park with its fantastic impressive formations and travertine waterfalls. Cycle to the viewpoint over Lake Visovac where there is a great view over the island and its monastery. After cycling, return to the hotel and enjoy late afternoon in the old town before the final evening dinner.

Day 8: Departure
Depart from Skradin to the airport and flight home. If you decide to spend more time in Croatia, our guides will be happy to recommend other beautiful places to visit - especially those you won’t find in tourist guide books.

Risnjak National Park is located close to the Slovenian border to the north east of the country. A wild, mountainous park, on a clear day you can enjoy superb views over the Adriatic Sea.

Northern Velebit National Park, part of the largest mountain range in Croatia, was given National Park status due to its fantastic karst landscape and rich biodiversity.

Plitvice Lakes National Park is one of the oldest and largest in Croatia and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The park is famous for its beautiful travertine waterfalls and 16 interconnected lakes that cascade into each other, ranging in shade from light blue to dark green depending on the angle of the light and the minerals and organisms present in the water.

Paklenica National Park is located on the southern slopes of Mount Velebit and covers the area around the two river canyons there, making it a popular destination for hikers and climbers.

Krka River National Park along the second half of the Krka river, close to the town of Skradin. Explore the park’s extensive waterways and travertine waterfalls and take a boat to the monastery on Visovac island.

Hotel in Zvecaj

Your accommodation for the first 2 nights will be a 3* hotel close to the Mreznica River, approximately one hour drive from Zagreb and Rijeka airports.

Korana guesthouse

Accommodation is provided by the families of Korana, a charming village nestled in a valley in Plitvice Lakes National Park and an ideal base to explore the surrounding area. The guesthouses are small, traditional dwellings with simple, clean and comfortable rooms. PLEASE NOTE: As these are private houses, some rooms might share a bathroom.

Hotel Skradinski Buk***

Travellers usually stay at the Hotel Skradinski Buk, just a few minutes' walk from the dock. Rooms are air conditioned and have a mini bar, TV, telephone, free WiFi and en-suite bathroom.

Departure airports: Zadar 45 min, Split 1 h, Zagreb 3.5 h.
