Pra Loup is part of the ‘Espace Lumière’ one of the biggest ski areas in the southern Alps. Linked with the neighbouring resort of La Foux d’Allos it offers 180km of marked runs from 1500m to 2600m.

There is a laid-back, almost Mediterranean atmosphere here as most visitors come from around Marseille and Nice and there are relatively few international tourists. The size of the ski area and the limited amount of accommodation means that the slopes remain uncongested and lift queues are rare.

With the Mediterranean vibe comes lots of sunshine. Though the area doesn’t get quite as much snowfall as its counterparts further north, the height of the resort and excellent snowmaking facilities ensure good conditions throughout the season.

Beginners will benefit from the high nursery slopes, while intermediates will love the variety of blue and red runs. More advanced skiers have a few choice black runs to choose from, as well as some runs that are left ungroomed after snow days. There is also a large snowpark with advanced and expert sections and 2 bordercross slopes (1 blue, 1 red). Children aged 12 and under have their own dedicated recreation area.

Après ski

Pra Loup has two main villages, Pra Loup 1600 where most of the shops, bars and restaurants are found, and the quieter Le Molanes 1500 which is prettier, but mainly accommodation. There is a ski bus that runs between the two every 20-30 minutes, taking 10 minutes.

There are some fun bars around Pra Loup 1600 for après ski or going out in the evening. If that’s not your thing then head to the open-air ice rink at Pra Loup 1600 or go bowling (car needed). Dog sledding is also available in the area.

There is a heated indoor pool with relaxation area, a spa area with jacuzzi and sauna and a small gym. Massages are available on request, to be organized and paid for locally.
