Flachau, approximately 1 hour from Salzburg airport, is a village in the district of St. Johann im Pongau in the Salzburg state. Its numerous skiing facilities are part of the Ski Amadé network of ski areas, one of the largest in Europe. In summer, the village is perfect for a multi-activity holiday due to its mountainous surroundings and nearby Lake Zell!
Flachau has some fantastic summer activities for families, including canyoning, white water rafting and kayaking. Although it also has a few more original activities on offer as well… You can brave the heights with a climbing and high ropes obstacle course, or try your hand at Zorbing! They also offer “riverbugging” which is a like individual white water rafting, where you control your small hydro speed air-kayak (google it… it’s pretty cool!)
Flachau also plays home to the “Lucky Flitzer” rollercoaster that takes you down through the ski slopes, allowing you to see for miles over the beautiful surroundings! The individual ‘toboggans’ take you over 1,100 metres of tracks, with many twists and turns making sure you won’t be bored! You can control the speed yourself, with the maximum speed being a zippy 42mph!!
