Flachau is a charming village nestled in the Salzburgerland area of the Austrian Alps. In the summer (as in the winter) there are plenty of activities on offer making it a fantastic destination for an adventure holiday.
From watersports like white water rafting, canyoning and kayaking to hiking, biking and via ferrata you really are spoiled for choice when deciding what to do each day.
Other fun activities include discovering the countryside on a segway, racing downhill on a mountain cart, riding the lucky flitzer year round toboggan run and outdoor go-karting.
If the weather is bad or you feel like taking it easy head to the Therme Amadé on the outskirts of Flachau, there is also plenty here to keep the kids entertained including slides and a wave pool.
At just under an hour from Salzburg you can easily head into the city for a wander, which we highly recommend doing if you have never been.

Hotel Tauernhof
This friendly, family run hotel is located in the centre of Flachau, with panoramic views of the surrounding mountainside.
The rooms are decorated in typical Austrian style, with comfortable Austrian style beds, TV, free WiFi, safe, bathroom with bath or shower and hairdryer. Most have balconies, but all offer beautiful mountain views.
The hotel spa offers an indoor swimming pool, saunas, steam room, and relaxation area included in the price, as well as massages on request.
Just outside the hotel is a large funpark with a trampoline, 5 a side football pitch, climbing wall and skatepark, ideal for families with older children.
The restaurant offers a soft all inclusive service with full board included in the price:

By Car
From the North - via Munich - Rosenheim - Salzburg near Salzburg on the A10 motorway - direction Villach, 70 km south of Salzburg. exit exit Flachau, 66 - simply drive into the city - after 1,5 km turn right on the village street - you're welcome. From the South - Udine - Villach, Villach in - on the A10 motorway - direction Salzburg, about 100 km north of Villach. Flachau exit. Parking is available at the hotel.
By Public Transport
It is possible to take a train from Salzburg to Radstadt (1 hour 20 mins) then a bus or taxi from there to Flachau (12 km). Some trains are direct, some involve changing at Bischofshofen.
