LOCATION
When you think of Austria what comes to mind? The beautiful cities with their Baroque architecture? Skiing perfectly groomed slopes? Dare we say the Sound of Music? This package takes in all this and more. Start in the Tyrolean capital Innsbruck with its picturesque old town giving way to a spectacular Alpine backdrop. Head along the river Inn cycle path and into the Ziller valley where the road gets hillier (though you can cross the Gerlos pass by bus transfer if you can’t face it) and enjoy views of Europe’s largest waterfall in Krimml. Take the Tauern cycle path through the Hohe Tauern National Park to beautiful Zell-am-See and views of the imposing Kitzsteinhorn mountain. From there follow the river Saalach as it flows through Germany and back into Austria until you reach Sound of Music country, Salzburg. This elegant city holds many surprises, beyond its perfectly preserved streets, dramatic hilltop fortress and beautiful skyline it has a lively cultural and culinary scene that combines the contemporary with the classical for a perfect end to an Austrian adventure.
